The Hauz Khas Fort Complex in Hauz Khas, South Delhi houses a water tank, an Islamic seminary (madrasa), a mosque, a tomb and pavilions, tracing back to the 13th century of Delhi Sultanate reign. It was part of Siri, the second medieval city of India of the Delhi Sultanate under Alauddin Khalji. The name Hauz Khas is derived from Persian words ‘Hauz’ (water tank or lake) and ‘Khas’ (royal). The large water tank or reservoir was built by Alauddin Khalji to supply water to the inhabitants of Siri and the mosque, madrasa and tombs were built overlooking the reservoir. Towards the beginning of the video, one can see the mosque at the Northern tower of the Hauz Khas Madrasa, overlooking the reservoir.
