Buses for destinations within the Kathmandu Valley depart from the City Bus Park at Gongabu, also called the old bus stand, in the east of the city. Buses to the Tibetan border also leave from here. Buses generally have no fixed departure times but leave when they are full. One can numerous buses here, coming and going, passengers milling around, a woman baggage porter, a daju (man / brother!) with a chhata (umbrella), street hawkers and vendors, a marketplace haat, porters / collies and a Coca Cola billboard painted on the wall, as well as fruit and vegetable vendors.
