Effigies of evil king Ravan, his son Meghnad and brother Kumbhakaran are burned to ashes as part of the Dussehra celebrations Ravan Dahan is celebrated on the day of Dussehra - (referring to Lord Rama's victory over the 10 headed demon king Ravana) by burning the effigy of Ravan which celebrates the victory of Good over Evil.
