Gulzar says "I'll try to remember that child, he played in the vegetable market of Roshanara Bagh in Delhi, that's the childhood. Well, I grew up in Old Delhi, its nothing like the Delhi today. These days Delhi looks like a part of Punjab as the Delhi I grew up in was known for Rai people. Rai is a Muslim community comprising of people from Bhopal who used to take the contract for maintaining an orchard. Roshanara Bagh's contract mostly remained with the Rai community and it was difficult to steal mangoes or java plums. So my childhood was always surrounded with the difficult task of stealing fruits from Roshanara Bagh."
