Employers weaving sarees at the silk industry in Kanchipuram. The silk industry in Kanchipuram is one of the fastest growing industries in India. The industry currently employs more than 30,000 weavers in the art of saree making. Its a mammoth task, where more than 5000 lines of threads gets interweaved with resham and zari. Entire process is manual and you can also see several design cardboards. Takes more than 10 days to make one saree and which is sold at 20,000+ prices. The handlooms in Kanchipuram are famous for the softness and durability. The handloom fabrics are soft and comfortable to wear and are suitable for all climates.
